Celebrities living with sensory processing disorders

Children with sensory processing disorders are vulnerable to discrimination in our societies. This is mostly due to stigma. There isn’t enough public awareness regarding their plight. As a result, a number of people may treat them with disregard and look down upon them.

These children may be oversensitive. For some children, loud noises or bright lights agitate them. These children may also be under sensitive. They might do things for stimulation like bumping into things just for pressure.

Some children may outgrow these disorders completely as they grow older. Others, however, may learn how to cope with them. Such is common in autistic children.

Occupational therapy helps. Through it, one learns how to cope with sensory processing disorders. For instance, they’re equipped with knowledge on what to do in cases of over stimulation. Through occupational therapy, these children are able to live normal lives as they grow to be adults.
